Cabinet Re-facing
Homes that were built up to the early 1980′s typically have commercial cabinets that are made with real wood veneer core plywood. These cabinet components are well built and are still useful. They simply have frequent problems such as hardware malfunctions, finish fading, veneer cracking, and water damage. These cabinets can be brought back to life with cabinet re-facing for a fraction of the cost of a complete kitchen remodel. It’s a great option for those whose kitchen layout has stood the test of time.
Cabinet re-facing involves applying real wood veneer to the existing cabinetry. This veneer is finished and stained to match the existing cabinet color. Typically, doors and drawer fronts are either re-finished or replaced. Most of the time drawer boxes and drawer hardware are replaced with a different style, or new drawer slides installed and some other options. With a little imagination, there are unlimited ideas that could be applied.
